ALPHA TEAM KICK OFF A SUCCESS!

This past Saturday, January 17th, 2015 saw the kick off of the Region 2 Leadership Initiative called Alpha Team at the Springfield Do Jang, hosted by Kwan Jang Nim H.C. Hwang, and Del Sordo, Sa Bom Nim, along with the Region 2 Chil Dan Leadership (Ginyard Sa bom Nim, Garaguso Sa bom Nim, Colston Sa bom Nim and Morey Sa Bom Nim), supported by H.Y. Kwon Sa Bom Nim, Frank Bonsignore Sa Bom Nim, Frank Schemerhorn Sa Bom Nim.  More than 50 Dan and Ko Dan Ja members applied to become Alpha Team Members.

The leadership initiative started off with a motivating lecture by Ginyard SBN on “Clear Focus”.  The hour long seminar included physical training to show practitioners the importance of having a “clear focus” in your self defense techniques.   The term “back chatter” was defined and discussed to help instructors and future instructors a clear path to training.

That lecture and demonstration was followed by detail presentation by Kwan Jang Nim H.C. Hwang on our “Moo Do” identity including a detailed overview of Moo Duk Kwan History in the United States. The Kwan Jang Nim basically became the “living history” about his experience with the formative years of the US federation.  Very insightful.

Followed by Russell Colston Sa Bom Nim, who provided the members with a lively lecture and discussion about Leadership, and how to apply it to our Moo Do path.

The final seminar was presented by Morey Sa bom Nim, who provided a physical training session on valuable training tips.  The tips were to encourage the team members to develop interesting and valuable training methods.

All sessions were video taped and are available for viewing on the Soo Bahk Do Institute or on the Alpha Team Facebook Group page (this is a closed group facebook site, open only to Alpha Team members.
