YOUR USSBDMKD Board meet on January 15, 2014, our first meeting of 2014

The following is a brief overview of that meeting.

  1. 1.       The 2014 National Festival will be in Region 8 pursuant to bidding process outcome. Little America Hotel in Salt Lake City Utah is the most promising at present
  2. 2.       The Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa and Moment With The Masters during November 2014 at Younglife Oakbridge, San Diego
  3. 3.       The Sa Bom Certification Study Kit processing fee has been adjusted to $395 effective Jan 1, 2014. (the same as KDJ rank processing) Existing Sa Bom Study Kit holders are grandfathered in.
  4. 4.      The 2014 Kick-a-thons for the Moo Duk Kwan campaign include quarterly National Prize Periods during which top fundraisers are identified to win the prizes offered during each National Prize Period.  Note that this is not saying that you have to do a Kick-a-thon every quarter, just that there are prized available each quarter. However, if you are interested in winning the Annual Prize then you can do more than just one Kick-a-thon.
      • National Prize Periods to be scheduled:
        • Qtr. 1 Jan 1 to Mar 31
        • Qtr. 2 Apr 1 to June 30
        • Qtr. 3 July 1 to Sept 30
        • Qtr. 4 Oct 1 to Dec 31
      • Each National Prize Period shall include a prize for:
        • Individual level – Every individual raising more than $50
        • Studio level – Each individual participating in a studio Kick-a-thon OR ONLINE FUNDRAISER even if their studio does not host one and who raises more than $150
        • Region level – One individual in each region who raises the most over $250
        • Studio Owner level (Year End Prize) – One Studio Owner who generates the most verified new students from their use of a Kick-a-thon as a new student recruitment tool and/or whose kick-a-thons during 2014 generate the greatest total amount of  donations.

Specific prizes are not identified for each threshold so that directors may solicit their contacts to procure new prizes which can be used in various prize periods to help promote participation in the Kick-a-thons much as has been done in the past to acquire prizes for the Silent Auction. The Studio Owner national year-end prize is envisioned as an all-expense paid week at KDJSS or all-expense paid trip to National Festival, etc.

  1. 5.      Price change awareness

Effective Jan 1, 2014, all prices from the Federation will be increased by 3%. However, a cash (or check) payment discount of 3% is available

There is no current update or changes on the USSBDMKD Federations litigation, regarding Trademark Infringement. We are waiting for a decision, from the Trial Judge, regarding a “Summary Judgment”.  (A “Summary Judgment” is asking the Judge to dismiss all or part of the Kovaleski counterclaims. The Judge can do that if there is a preponderance of proof against the claims or there is substantial lack of proof for the claim… We have been waiting since before the New Year for the Judge’s ruling. According to our attorneys, the Judge’s ruling can be anytime from tomorrow to six months.)

  1. 6.      Other Projects Current Being Worked On are:
    • Working with the Boy Scouts on developing a “Merit Badge” or other tie-ins.
    • Soo Bahk Do Institute Upgrades
    • A program for Veterans that have disabilities
    • Modifications and upgrades to the Federation Website, to better serve all.

You elected me to be YOUR voice in the Federation, so please share any comments, suggestion or concerns that you may have.

Remember, our Art has an ACTION PHILOSOPHY…so stay involved!!
